Alves were born Rodrigo Alves on 30 July 1983 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to a Brazilian mother and Alves's British father. The father of her daughter, Roserval Alves, hailed from an ethnically Portuguese family who arrived in Brazil in the 1940s. "The primary activity of the Alves family was agriculture. They later increased their involvement in the retail industry and in property. Alves was just five years old at the time her grandfather gifted her Barbie dolls. Alves was born a male. She saw her self as a girl around 3 to 6 years old. The dolls she played with and can be cross-dressed. She believes that people shouldn't be identified according to their gender. As a child, she was bullied and shy. Alves was bullied as a teenager because she had hormonal dysfunction. A high estrogen level caused breast tissue growth. The family of Alves owns a string of supermarkets in Brazil which has made them prosperous, but at the time of writing, Alves has not made any revenue from the stores. Alves was able to move to London in the year she turned 18 she studied public relations at the London College of Communication.
