An ex-fashion model of the top class who was 5'10'' in height, Carey was an a fan favorite of top American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. She is the daughter of a distinguished geologist, who was awarded the title of Scientist of the Year from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Because of his work, Carey has been raised across the world. The model began modeling for a part-time basis while she was attending university at the University of Colorado and caught the eye of a rep for the Ford model Agency in New York. After moving to France, where she briefly lived in Paris, Bordeaux and New York, she decided to return to New York and continue her training. Then, Vogue, Glamour and others featured her on their covers. Between modeling gigs, she was a full time student obtaining a major of literature from New York University. Then she became interested in acting, and began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986 she began her career in acting with a minor role as a minor character in "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include doing white-water rafting, skiing, wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
