Awkwafina

Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and musician who started her career through innovative raps which addressed the issues of sexuality and race with a a boldly comic perspective. Then she branched out into Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came via the trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop education began when she was a teenager. In her studies, she majored in journalism and women's studies at college, even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a time. When she graduated, she started to pursue music as her main focus. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet before settling on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. This album also featured songs that were viral such as body-positive Queef or the winking city tour NYC Bitche$. The song was directly connected to The Awkwafinas Guide to NYC, her travel guide for 2015. She decided to pursue acting as a profession following the completion of her previous two endeavors, author and musician. Apart from early series such as Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films like Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land major roles in a variety of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by In Fina We Trust in June of the year.
